Both parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price or other details of the transaction, and the transaction is expected to close no later than the third quarter of 2022. Closing of the acquisition is subject to regulatory approvals.
“This acquisition will strengthen our position in Central Europe and expand our offering to new ranges of self-adhesive products. AMC’s capabilities and business portfolio are a perfect fit for us. The combination with UPM Raflatac’s efficient supply chain and sales and distribution network will enable further growth. We look forward to offering a stronger product portfolio to our current and new customers,” says Antti Jääskeläinen, Executive Vice President of UPM Raflatac.
With this acquisition, UPM continues its strategic trajectory, adding to the organic growth of the attractive specialty packaging materials value chain and reinforcing business transformation and long-term value creation in one of its three growth spearheads.
AMC AG, founded in 1996 with roots dating back to 1959, is a private company with long-standing private owners. The company has two production sites – Kaltenkirchen and Hagenow – in northern Germany. AMC’s business includes the coating of pressure-sensitive film labels and Viscom/Graphics materials under the Intercoat brand, as well as removable self-adhesive stationary products under the Global Notes and Print Inform brands.
The company employs more than 300 people and AMC AG’s last financial year turnover amounted to 110 million euros. UPM Raflatac expects to accelerate AMC’s growth and realize significant synergies.
“We are delighted to see AMC continue to grow within the UPM Raflatac family. We are convinced that by combining our knowledge and capabilities with UPM Raflatac’s experience, we can deliver even greater benefits to our customers and a prosperous future to our employees,” said Wolfgang Leichner and Thomas Schwerdtfeger, shareholders and members of the board of directors of AMC AG.
